So you want to join the STAR Flight team?

The team of STAR Flight is a small operation - our line staff includes only four pilots, six nurses, five paramedics, and two mechanics.  We have a highly committed team with a very low turnover rate and high job-satisfaction.  We occasionally have an openings and are always looking to hire the best, brightest, and most talented.

STAR Flight has a very unique and demanding mission profile.  As the Air Operations Division of Austin/Travis County EMS, a third-service EMS provider, our responsibilities cover multiple specialties.  A typical shift may involve roles as first response EMS, critical care transport from outlying medical facilities, fire suppression, air rescue operations, and law enforcement surveillance and pursuit.  This requires individuals that are very experienced within their specialty areas and able to adapt to constantly changing environments.  Solid physical fitness is of supreme importance in order to perform safely and effectively within the rescue environment.  A typical STAR Flight medical provider has over 10 years of critical care/field experience and none of our pilots have less than 5500 hours of PIC turbine time.  Background experience in rescue, wildland firefighting, and water lifesaving roles certainly helps as well.

Here is information on our hiring policies along with some tips and suggestions to ensure you are as prepared as possible when we do have an opening.
